Is GTA 6 Coming To Switch 2? Ask Rockstar, Nintendo Says

Release · 13 Oct 2026

Nintendo of America president Devon Pritchard has declined to say whether Grand Theft Auto 6 is coming to the Switch 2, telling Variety that the question is one for Rockstar and Take-Two. GTA 6 is currently confirmed only for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Release date

Grand Theft Auto 6 is due on November 19 and is confirmed only for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, per GameSpot. History suggests a PC edition will follow later, but that is not confirmed. Whether a Switch 2 version is planned remains unknown.

What it is

GTA 6 is Rockstar’s next main entry in the Grand Theft Auto series and, according to Variety, the most anticipated game title of the year. Asked whether the M-rated game could come to Switch 2, Nintendo of America president Devon Pritchard would neither confirm nor deny it.

“That’s going to be a conversation for Take Two and Rockstar, but nothing to announce on my end at this time,” Pritchard told Variety. Variety notes the Switch 2 “certainly has the horsepower” to host the game, but Pritchard would not say if it is coming to the platform.

Platforms and history

In May 2025, a report from NateTheHate said Rockstar was conducting tests to see about bringing GTA 6 to Switch 2, according to GameSpot. That same report clarified the test did not mean GTA 6 was planned for Switch 2, and that developers regularly check whether games are technically feasible on different platforms.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has said the company could bring more games to Switch 2, but that it “would not necessarily bring every title to the platform,” per GameSpot. He called the opportunity to bring some older titles to Switch 2 “great” and said he is a “big believer” in the system. Rockstar previously released GTA: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition on Switch in 2021, which is playable on Switch 2, and GTA: Chinatown Wars on Nintendo DS.

Where to get it

For now, GTA 6 can be bought on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S ahead of its November 19 release. No Switch 2 version has been announced, and Nintendo has not commented further on the possibility.
